Small Businesses - Coffee Houses as Gathering Places

Writer/Producer: Kristy Vaughn

Escape from the daily grind through music or poetry readings at neighborhood coffee shops. Here, entertainment often provides a backdrop that leads to sundry conversation. An open-mic poetry night provides a casual forum for writers to share their work. Or a Bluegrass Band performs while patrons soak up the local flavor-- one coffee house even encourages regulars to grab a drum and create music alongside the band. Whether customers are on the stage or part of the crowd, java huts have traditionally been community gathering places where intellect and creativity merge with great coffee.

Resources:

The manna reading center official site is great for looking up event dates.

The Sanibel Bean official site is a great resource for determining what type of coffee

to buy and how to store it.

The official site for OpenMikes.org has a great calendar for event dates across

Florida, as well as the Southwest Florida region.

Find Southwest Florida coffee shops that offer bluegrass music events.
